French Design Awards 2026 Platinum Winner
We are proud to announce that Koshulynskyy & Mayer has been recognised with a Platinum Winner award at the French Design Awards 2026 for the cultural project VIK Cars Museum. Receiving a Platinum Award represents the highest level of international recognition, highlighting the studio’s ability to translate complex functional requirements into a precise architectural language and a cohesive spatial experience.
About the awarded project
The awarded project VIK Cars Museum is a private museum located in Lviv, Ukraine, dedicated to a collection of rare and fully functional automobiles. The project is conceived as a scenographic environment rather than a traditional exhibition space. Instead of following a chronological display logic, the architecture creates a sequence of spatial moments where each car is perceived as an independent object.
The space is structured through contrast, reflection and controlled light. Metal surfaces, deep tones and a carefully designed lighting system shape the perception of form and detail, allowing each vehicle to be experienced individually.
A rotating platform introduces movement into the exhibition, transforming static objects into dynamic compositions. From an engineering perspective, the project required reinforced structural solutions and the integration of a dedicated lift system to transport vehicles to the upper level. The museum occupies 1,500 square meters and was completed within a two-month timeframe, requiring a high level of coordination between architectural, technical and construction processes. VIK Cars Museum reflects the studio’s approach to architecture as a system that defines how space is perceived, experienced and remembered.
